Obituary for LAURA R. KYLER
Laura Kyler was born July 13,1926 to the late Hubert & Rachel Hall in Calvert County, Maryland. She married the man of her dream, Robert Kyler in 1951, who preceded her in death after 62 years of marriage on June 10, 2013. Laura transitioned from this life on June 9, 2016 while receiving care at the South River Nursing Facility in Annapolis, MD.
Laura was educated in the Calvert County public school system. Her sons remembered her working at a hot dog stand in North Beach at the pier near Pop Brown and after the family moved to Huntingtown she worked for her brother in-law at Kyler’s once it opened across the street from them. When asked what they remember most about their mom, Larry with a big smile said "her potato salad, which was very popular among the food that was sold at Kyler's. She later became a cashier in the cafeteria of the Calvert school system for 18 years until she retired
She was a faithful ant devoted wife & mother to her family. She loved her family and made sure that they were well taken care of. She -was a lady, a "man of integrity ant a good meal to many. Her sons described her as "classy''. She even taught her sons how to dance (the bop, two step & hand dance). Forrest did so well he was voted Best Dancer by his graduating class in 1970.
Laura was a very faithful and dedicated member at her church. She did whatever she could to do to help out at Mt. Hope UMC. Whenever she was asked to help, she would always say “I'll do my best", and was well known by her church family for her spirit of excellence.
Laura Kyler, is survived by2 sons; Forrest Kyler of White Plains, MD and Larry Kyler of Lusby, MD, one sister, Dorothy Jones of Washington, DC, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren; a niece, Minnie Stepney who loved her to life; a host of other nieces, nephews, and family members and friends who will miss her sweet presence as well. Amen!
