Joseph Leon Morsell, also known as Joe, Butch, or Baldie by many, began his journey in this world on November 11, 1949 in Calvert County, Maryland, to Dorothy Washington Russell and the late Joseph W. Morsell. He quietly departed this life on October 2, 2008.Joe was reared in the Anne Arundel and Calvert County areas by his grandmother, Toney Morsell. He graduated from Southern High School in 1967. Several years later, he was called to active duty to serve in the Army. He was active in the Vietnam War where he received several medals, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was also awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Rifler and Bronze Star Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1971.Joes occupations were truck driving and cement finishing, which he did for various companies throughout the surrounding areas. Along with his brother, Carroll, they formed their own company H & M Concrete. He also worked as a DJ.In his spare time, Joe enjoyed watching and playing sports, especially baseball and bowling. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and hanging out with his buddies.Joe leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Dorothy Russell; four daughters, Wanda Lee Morsell of Lawrenceville, GA, Felicia Michelle Morsell of Fort Washington, MD, Toni Denise Morsell of Glen Burnie, MD, and Joniece Renee Middleton of Crofton, MD; three granddaughters, Serenity Morsell, Kalani Smith and Blessing Gross; two sisters, Carolyn Spriggs and Helen Spriggs; one brother-in-law, Sherman Spriggs; a step-sister, Nancy Vanhook (Richard); two step-brothers, Edward Faust and Kevin Conerly (Arnita); four aunts and one uncle, and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, his father, and three brothers, Michael and Ronald Morsell, and Carroll Creek; and his aunt and uncle, Ellsworth and Elizabeth Contee.
