James Wesley Hall, 79James Wesley Hall of Chesapeake Beach, MD died on Sunday, June 1, 2008 at Calvert Memorial Hospital, Prince Frederick, MD. He was born on Tuesday, March 5, 1929 in Friendship, MD to the late John Wesley and Sophie (Brown) Hall.James, affectionately known as "Sonny", was wedded in holy matrimony to Margaret Lee Jones on March 26, 1956 after a blissful six year courtship; one child was born from this union, Robert Hall, Sr. Sonny was educated in the public schools of Anne Arundel County. At an early age, he joined Carter's United Methodist Church; later transferring his membership to St. Edmonds United Methodist Church. He served his country as a Corporal in the U. S. Army. He was a proud member of the American Legion Gray Ray Post 220. Sonny was an avid sports fan. Baseball was his favorite sport. Any given Sunday, you could find him at Gray's Ball Diamond cheering on the Owings Eagles baseball team. He was a die hard Orioles and Redskins fan. Fishing was one of his beloved pastimes. Anyone who knew Sonny knew he was a big jokester. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sophie Hall; sister, Helen Harris; brother-in-law, Stanley Jones; step-son, Charles Jones and granddaughter, Tonya Carroll. Sonny will be deeply missed by his wife, Margaret; his sons, Franklin Carroll, Robert Hall, Sr., and Michael Smith; daughter-in-law, Lula Jones; sister, Mary Foster (James); sisters-in-law, Drussilla Russell (John, Sr.), Florencetine Randall (Thomas) and Doris Jones; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; devoted friends, Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Jones, Sr. and a host of relatives and friends.
