Obituary for JOHN WESLEY MACKALL, SR.
John Wesley Mackall, was known to many of his family and friends as Wes. He was born to the late Emanuel Mackall and Lottie Brown in Prince Frederick, Maryland on December 3, 1925.
He attended the public schools of Calvert County. After finishing school he went into the military. He was a Korean War Veteran.
Throughout his life he worked various jobs in farming and construction until he retired. He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Celeste Gross on January 26, 1957. From that union he had 4 daughters and 4 sons.
He belonged to the American Legion Gray Ray Post #220.
He attended Carroll-Western United Methodist Church during his younger years with his grandmother the late Grace Bungie. From time to time he would visit the church on special occasions.
John was a person that everyone enjoyed being around. He would argue his point to no end when he believed he was right. At the end of a conversation he would point his finger and say “I want to thank you”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emanuel Mackall and Lottie Brown, 1 sister, Evelyn Mackall, 2 brothers, Ernest Mackall and Walter Brown, 1 son William Gough and 1 daughter, Frances Dixon.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Celeste Mackall; 4 daughters, Jean Mackall, Valerie Brooks (Samuel), Alice Brooks (Steve), Maryann White (Garrett); 5 sons, Wilbur Gough, Melvin White, John Mackall (Patricia), Ravon Mackall, Franklin Mackall; 12 grandchildren, Shelly, Tiffany (Lyndell), Quenton, Tia (Corey), Shakaye, Timothy, Tyreece, Bryston, Corey, Steven, Phillip and Brittany; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, William Brown (Edna); 2 sisters, Dorothy Brown and Virginia Briscoe; sister-in-law, Estelle Mackall and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
