Obituary for JOHN ROBERT DESHAZO, JR. aka "BOBBY OFFER"
John Robert DeShazo, Jr., known to many as “Bobby Offer”, was born December 5, 1952 in Prince Frederick, Maryland to the late John Robert DeShazo, Sr. and Virginia Offer. On April 23, 2020 Bobby transitioned home to his resting place in eternity.
Bobby was educated in the public school system of Calvert County, Maryland. Upon graduating from Calvert Senior High School, he served his country in the United States Marine Corp. Bobby was a proud Marine who served during the Vietnam War. Following his military career, Bobby returned home to Calvert County, Maryland and maintained various occupations, such as; Bartending/Club Management, Home Health Care, Carpentry, and Construction.
Bobby enjoyed his life to the fullest. He had several hobbies that he really enjoyed. He loved to “Hand Dance”. If there was a “Hand Dance” contest he would be there! He loved the game of pool. Observers enjoyed seeing him play as he would lead the table. Bobby was an entertainer. As one of the lead singers for the R&B group “The Olympics”, fans would faint and cheer him on as he performed. Bobby the “Uber Driver”, known for his excellent driving abilities, safely transported friends, relatives, and strangers to their desired destinations with a smile. During his younger years, Bobby was a fantastic artist who loved to draw. He drew a life-like portrait of his daughter, “Stacey Lee”, on his bedroom wall that was breathtaking.
Greatest of all, Bobby enjoyed and had an enduring love for his entire family and friends.
Bobby was preceded in death by his loving parents, Virginia Offer and John Robert DeShazo, Sr.; brother, Odyssey Offer; sisters, Mary Ellen “Hazel” Toye and Jackie James; and niece, Pamela Offer.
Bobby leaves to cherish his memory: sweetheart and life-long love, Phyllis Clayton; children, Stacey DeShazo and Jason Henson; grandchildren, Jason Henson, Jr., Zakahri, Zykeira, and Zamiya Weems; great-grandson, Zayden Weems; sisters, Carolyn Offer and Linda Smith; special and dear nieces, Roxanne Lyons, LaSharon Toye, Deborah Briscoe, Renee Williams, and Odessa Offer; special and dear nephews, Kelvin Offer, Jonathan Offer, Odyssey Offer, Jr., Juan Offer, Dextrick Washington, Sr., Keith Offer, Christopher Smith, Quentin Smith, and Santana Miles-James; great nieces, London Hopkins, Delvina Offer, Diamonica Parker, Rasheda Toye, Shelby Hill, Mariah Smyers, Aliyah Briscoe, Aniya James, Shanita Washington, and Shawn Dupree; great-great nieces, Paris Toye, and Rhys Washington; great nephews, Frank Morris III, Joseph Smyers, Brandon Hopkins, Willie Washington, Dextrick Washington, Jr., and Dionta Dupree; great-great nephews, Denali Hopkins, and Roen Washington; dearest cousins, Willard White and Jean Long; dearest friends, Willie Gray, Robert Jefferson, and the Bishop family.
