Obituary for JEMIAH A. HARRIS, SR.

Jemiah Antoan Harris was born on January 8,1979 to Deborah S. Mackall and Merle G. Har-ris, Sr. Jemiah departed this life suddenly on September 11, 2022, at his home in Great Mills, Maryland.

Jemiah attended Calvert County Public Schools, and graduated from Calvert High School in 1997. While in High School, his interest was in auto mechanics. However, upon graduating he found employment at Victor Stanley and later as a cook at The Ponderosa and Calvert Memorial Hospital. He later pursued a career as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant which was

his passion. Jemiah enjoyed talking to the residents and listening to their stories. He was employed at the Asbury Nursing Facility and at the Chesapeake Shores Nursing Home until his passing. His strength, selflessness, and a strong work ethic were evident in the workplace.

When he was not working, little did anyone know that he was learning and practicing the

guitar. During his spare time, he also enjoyed making CDs for the nursing facility residents and his friends.

Jemiah was a very kind-hearted and loving son, father, brother and nephew. He was a selfless man who would go out of his way to help others. He loved cooking and enjoyed the family “traditional” get togethers. He had a very pleasant personality and enjoyed a good conversation.

He was a very active participant in the group chat with his mother and aunts. He would often share jokes or provide links to newsworthy articles or research to answer questions posed in the chat.

Jemiah leaves to cherish fond memories his son, Jemiah Harris, Jr.; mother, Deborah Mackall (Clyde); father, Merle Harris, Sr.; two brothers, Merle Harris, Jr. and Terrell Pinkney; grandfather, Elmore L. Mackall, Sr.; Aunts: Brenda Coby, Bridget, Belva, Jacqueline, Myra and Sharon Mackall, and Marshakia Harris; Uncles: Cranston Berry, Sylvester, Demetrious, Lamont and Dayton Harris. He also leaves to cherish his memories, four great aunts: Annie Mackall, Sarah Hutchins, Vivian (Sue) Magruder, and Theo (Sylvester) Phillips; three great uncles: Maurice (Tiny) Magruder (Virginia), William (Billy) Harris (Mildred), and John Phillip Butler, Wilson Barnes; his very special friend, LaToya Mason; goddaughter, Lenaira Hall; and a host of cousins and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jemiah was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Margaret Butler and Florence Mackall; Grandfather, John Harris; Aunts: Desiree Royster, Burdina Taylor, Kathy Thomas and Be-atrice Butler; Uncles Pernell Mackall, Elmore Mackall, Jr., Leroy Butler and William Henry Butler. Also preceded in death by his cousin Terrence Hampton.
