Obituary for ILEAN G. RAY
Ilean Ray better known as Peter Rabbit or Pete was born to the late Clyde and Pearl Jones. On Saturday August 12, 2017 she peacefully departed this life at Georgetown Hospital in Washington D.C. She was married to Carl Ray and from that union they had one son Carlos Ray. She was educated in Calvert County and was a graduate of Brooks High School. She continued her education and graduated with a bachelor's degree in education from Bowie State College.
As a child she worked on the farm with her parents. After completing her education at Bowie she taught in Prince Georges County Public Schools for thirty years. Upon retirement she came home to care for her mother.
Ilean enjoyed gardening. Often you would see her planting flowers and vegetables such as tomatoes, peppers and egg plants. These were her favorites. Later in life she set up a garden on her porch with flower pots so that she could continue to enjoy her flowers and vegetables.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Pearl Jones and two sisters Florence Wills and Margaret Johnson.
Ilean leaves to cherish her memories her son Carlos Ray, husband Carl Ray; one grandchild Sekerra Ray; one sister Alberta Payne: one brother Clyde Jones; beloved nephew Dana Jones; six nieces, seven nephews; several great nieces and nephews and a host of cousins and friends.
