Obituary for HILDA VICTORIA MACKALL
Hilda Victoria Mackall, our beloved was born on July 1 l, 1938 in Chaney, Maryland to the late Calvert and Mamie Hawkins. She transitioned from this earthly life to rejoice with her husband, son, parents and six siblings on November 15, 2016 at Calvert Memorial Hospital.
"Mother Hilda" or "Lady Hilda", as she was affectionately known by family and friends, was the sixth of ten children. Hilda was educated by the Calvert County Public School System and worked various occupations. She was employed by the Calvert County Public School System for more than 25 years, where she was an Instructional Assistant to students with special needs. For a short while, she was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Calvert Nursing Center, Summer Program Assistant for Calvert County Parks and Recreation, A Foster Parent and Respite Care Worker for 24 years at the Alternative Youth and Family Agency. Hilda was also employed by the Arc of Southern Maryland for 22 years.
Although Hilda was employed she still found time to provide effective services to meet the desires and needs of individuals with mental and developmental disabilities. Hilda was also a member of the Brooks High School Reunion and Scholarship Committees. She received many certificates, awards and citations for outstanding services in her community.
On April 22, 1978 Hilda married the late Estep Mackall and from that union a son was born the late Warren Mackall. Hilda received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was a faithful and longtime member of Zion Church of Jesus Christ, Apostolic. As a lover of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ "Mother Hilda" was a virtuous woman and loved all people.
Hilda was very dedicated to her family and friends. She would help anyone she could especially those she knew was in need. Hilda enjoyed being a foster parent and she was to so many. Her family and friends also knew her as "Lady Hilda". This name was acquired because of her stylish attire and mannerism. One could always find her wearing a fashionable hat, matching suit, purse and shoes. Hilda would be "tipping" like the "Diva" she was. Hilda loved to read her bible, pray and spend time with family. She was a loving and caring person, "to know her was to love her."
Lady Hilda leaves to cherish her memories three siblings; Joseph (Gertrude), Jeannette and Phillip "Bobby" Hawkins (Addie), two step daughters; Phyllis Hardy and Tomorra Rawlings, two step grandsons; Michael and Gerald Hardy, two step granddaughters; Jean Morsell and Barbara Magruder, ten step great grandsons, two step great granddaughters, one step great-great granddaughter, foster son Kevin Brooks, goddaughter Barbara Brown Rawlings, special niece Odesea Hall; special nephew Kirk Butler (Wandell) a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family.
