George Baby Boy Thomas was born on July 4, 1934 to the late Edward Ned and Ruth Ann Thomas in Calvert County, Maryland. He departed this life, after a long illness, on Monday, February 2, 2009 at the Washington Hospital Center. George (Baby Boy), as he was referred to by most, attended Calvert County Public Schools. He was a life-long brick layer and constructed many buildings that are still standing today. In 1954 George married Virginia Brogden (deceased), to this union ten children were born. George was well loved by all. His grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews often looked to him for guidance. He was one that would give it to you straight; whether it was what you wanted to hear or not and loved squeezing the guys hands. He would often provide shelter to family members. He enjoyed coordinating Thomas Family and Friends Day, which was held the first Sunday in November annually for more than thirty years. He enjoyed reading the Bible and singing songs of praise. One of his favorite family functions was hosting a picnic on July 4th in celebration of Independence Day and his birthday. There was no end to the food that was prepared which included roasting a pig. He was a lifetime and the eldest member of the Thomas Family Reunion Committee. He served many years as the head chef for surrounding churches annual Bull Roast. George joined Mt. Hope United Methodist Church at an early age and remained a member until his death. He was a member of the Senior Choir, Methodist Men and Trustee Board. George leaves to mourn ten children, George, Paulette, McDaniel Alvin, Donn Chubby, Loressa, Doressa, Antonio Fuzzy, Tavanne, Lisa, and Vaughn. 23 Grandchildren and 15 Great-grandchildren; Seven sisters; Vernice Custard, Dorothy Jacks, Mary Ruth Greene, Corine Gray Reed, Beatrice Riggs, Valerie Mason, and Cynthia Jones. Four brothers; Everett Thomas, William Duck Thomas, Earl Dean Thomas, and Vincent Pinkney Thomas. Daughter-in-laws; Jennifer Thomas and Sheila Thomas; Son-in-laws; Clifton Creek, Tony Damond and Rick Bratwaite; Sister-in-laws; Mary Thomas and Audrey Thomas; Brother-in-laws; Arthur Riggs, Anthony Mason, and Sidney Jones; One Aunt; Madeline Thomas. He was preceded in death by his parents; Edward and Ruth Thomas; Siblings; Mary Francis Harvey, Louise Bert Booth, Donald Thomas, James Jimmy Thomas, and Robert Specks Thomas.
