Obituary for GREG L. EASTON
Greg Lavon Easton was born on April 15, 1969 to Joseph E. Easton, Sr. and Carolyn Easton at Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick, MD. He departed this life suddenly on Thursday, June 30, 2016 to be with the Lord.
Greg loved attending church services. You could always find him in his special seat, praising God to the highest, shouting and singing God's praises. He loved imitating Deacon Terry Hall as he rejoiced in the Lord. When it was time for prayer, Greg was one of the first, along with his brother, Joseph Jr., to be anointed. Bethel Way of the Cross Church meant so much to him. Greg loved his father "Joe Bird", whom he escorted in the prayer line.
Greg was associated with The Arc for 27 years. He was affectionately known as "Ol Greg" because that's how he addressed his friends. Instead of saying hi, he would put the term "Ol" before everyone's name. Greg loved life! He actively participated in numerous programs and activities offered by The Arc. The one program he loved the most was music. Every Wednesday he would get on the microphone and sing. He had a rich baritone. His favorite music genre was Gospel, and his favorite hymn was Amen.
Greg worked for Direct Mail in Prince Frederick, Maryland. He was employed there for 10 years. He loved his job and they loved him. He always greeted every co-worker with a hug and a smile.
Greg was also a participant in "People on the Go," self-advocacy group. He regularly participated in meetings with his house staff. Every Thursday he would take art classes, offered through the Twisted Stitchers group. He enjoyed creating the various projects. Every spring he looked forward to playing baseball with the members of the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs as part of their .Community Caravan Program.
Greg leaves behind a legacy of fond and loving memories. He is survived by his parents, Joseph E. Easton, Sr. and Carolyn Easton; three brothers, Joseph, Jr., Troy (Tasha), his twin, Craig (Cindy); two nephews, Trayton and Bronson; three nieces, Tranna, Kiara, and Teara; three great-nieces; 4 great nephews; Grandmother, Helen Ray; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, friends, and church family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Viola Easton, Wilson Ray and former Pastor and uncle, Bishop Allen Easton.
Greg surely will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
