Gladys Elizabeth Stewart was born on June 28, 1929 in Wilkes Barre, PA. She was beloved daughter of the late Julia A. Smith and Percy A. Smith. She had 3 siblings. Gladys graduated from Meyers High School in 1948.

Gladys was married to Wallace A. Stewart of Curwensville, PA on March 27, 1950 in Silver Spring, MD. They were married for 56 years and had 3 children. She worked for the Census Bureau as a librarian until her retirement in September 1984.

Gladys was a member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church. She was an active member in the church choir, Yesterday’s Children, communion stewards, parish leaders and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed reading her bible and devotions daily. She loved the Lord and her family.

Some of her hobbies were gardening and collecting salt and pepper shakers and teapots. She enjoyed singing, dancing, traveling and playing the piano.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Wallace Stewart, her sister Alberta Smith and her brother James Smith. She is survived by Beverly, Renee and Gary; nine grandchildren Shayla , Glenn II, Jarratt , Megan, Travis, Candace, Taylor, Kai and Les; five great grandchildren Jayden, Deshawn, Jordan, Adrianna and Jace. She has one sister, Ellease Crawley, and in-laws John Crawley and Iola Smith.
