Obituary for FREDERICK O. JONES, SR.
Frederick Oliver Jones Sr. was born May 8, 1942 in Huntingtown, MD to the late Marian Jones and Paul Fauntleroy of Baltimore, MD. Frederick departed this life peacefully on October 31, 2021 at Heritage Harbor Nursing Home in Annapolis, :MD.
Frederick graduated from Calvert County public school systems. Frederick was an entrepreneur who ran a successful waterproofing business known as F.0. Jones waterproofing. He also managed Koons and Montgomery apartment complexes. Another successful business he owned, was J&J Foods. Freddie was well known for his "famous fried fish."'
On March 18, 1961, Frederick married the love of his life, Marian H. Wallace. Frederick had six children: Valarie, (The late) Fred Jr., Dale, Douglas, Laveille and Angela. Freddie, as he was known, received the Lord as his savior at an early age. He was a faithful member of Patuxent United Methodist Church.
Freddie has been a member of the Dunkirk Lodge #77 F. & A.M., PHA for over 50 years. In 1973, Freddie earned his rank as Master Mason and was devoted to his role. As a Mason, he participated in various community outreach events such as Thanksgiving and Christmas basket distributions, clothing and food drives and other events to help families in need. Freddie's motto was "If I can help somebody as I pass along the way, then my living will not be in vain."
Freddie was also known for doing various fish fries for churches in the community such as: Patuxent United Methodist Church, Mt. Gethsemane Holiness Church, and Church of God of Plum Point Road just to name a few. Freddie also received many awards and recognitions in his lifetime for the many contributions he made in serving and helping others. You would often see the red and white J&J food trailer traveling throughout the DMV making its way to various catering jobs.
Freddie was always imparting wisdom. Some memorable best practices were "if you are having an event, and you couldn't afford to do it then Don't Do It." He also said, "if he was having an event, and if the place was not packed, he would give them their money back." Another saying was "if you are scheduled to do something, then be on time." To his children, he was known as "The World's Greatest Dad." To his grandchildren, he was known as "The Best Pop-Pop." His grandchildren could always count on Pop-Pop for whatever support they needed.
Freddie was preceded in death by his parents, his son Fred Jr., his brothers MacArthur, and Wilford. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of sixty years Marian; his children Valarie, Dale, Douglas, Laveille (Christal) and Angela, six grandchildren Shamika, Tashyra, Bianca, Ahmad, Chris and Jonathan; one great grandchild Aiden; two God Children whom he raised Ruby Wills and Charles Gray (Annette); adopted son Dexter Mackall (LaShawn); his extended family members Zara "Zee", Ruby, Blanche (John), Paul (Odessa), Cleo, and Saundra; four aunts Maude, Alice, Eva, and Shirley; a special niece and nephew Jacqueline Jones and Jeffrey (Cynthia) Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends John Berry, Fred Howard, Doris Hawkins-Holland, and Gregory Jones; and his special neighbor and friend Bishop Robert D.
