Obituary for FLOYD JEFFERSON
Floyd Jefferson, Sr., 68, of Lusby, MD passed away on September 6, 2011 at 6:30 PM at his residence. He was born to the late Carl Jefferson Sr. and Ollie Joppy on June 21, 1943. He attended the Calvert County Public Schools. On October 15, 1969, he was united in holy matrimony to Geraldine Jefferson. From this union there were four children. Early in his life he worked with the union as an iron worker and later as a supervisor for Metro, and then on to the Calvert Cliff Nuclear Power Plant as an iron worker. Floyd loved to play his organ while singing melodies to his wife. He also loved playing the guitar while singing oldies with his longtime friend, Lorenzo Gross. Floyd leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Geraldine Jefferson; one son, Floyd "June Bug" Jefferson Jr.; three daughters, Phyllis Jefferson, Maxine Gross, and Angel Smith; his mother, Ollie Joppy; one sister, Diane Jenkins; one brother, Carl Jefferson Jr.; six grandchildren, Terrence Jefferson, Jemark Jefferson, Sheldon Gross, Jr., Floyd Jefferson, Travonta Johnson, and Mariah Gantt; one great-grandchild, Elijah Jefferson; two sons-in-law, Robert Smith and Sheldon Gross; one daughter-in-law, Katina Jefferson; father-in-law, Clarence Johnson Sr.; five brothers-in-law, Terrence Jenkins, Clarence Johnson Jr., Melvin Johnson, Levi Johnson, and Gerald Johnson; eight sisters-in-law, Doris Weems, Margaret Gantt, Irene Harris, Madeline Gantt, Clarice Gough, Olivia Gantt, Tammy Johnson and Rhoda Cradle; preceding him in death, father Carl Jefferson Sr. and mother-in-law, Carrie Johnson; special friends, Earl Johnson, Lorenzo Gross and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
