Obituary for Eunice V. Weems

Eunice Viola Sutton Weems, 75, of Lusby, MD passed away on November 13, 2009 at Calvert Memorial Hospital, Prince Frederick, MD. She was born on January 14, 1934 to the late Leroy and Lucinda Sutton.
Eunice was educated in the Calvert County public school system. On January 13, 1951, she married Thomas Harry Weems and from this union they were blessed with nine children, one deceased, Thomas Harry Weems, Jr.
Eunice was a former member of Eastern United Methodist Church and was the first financial secretary of the official board. She did an exceptional job and didn't miss anything. She also served as an assistant communion steward.
She later joined the Church of God in Lothian, Maryland and then attended the Church of God, in Lusby, Maryland. Eunice loved the Lord. You could find her quoting scriptures, singing, and praising God.
She had a caring spirit and extended her hospitality whenever needed. She gave from the heart. Whenever answering the telephone, she would ask "how are you doing, how's your husband, and how are the children?"
She worked as a sales person for S-Kline Department Store in Laurel, MD. She later began working as a receptionist for Tidewater Boats in Tracey's Landing, MD. She also worked at Fort Meade Naval Base as a custodian. She was co-owner and accountant for Thomas Weems and Sons. She independently prepared income taxes. She worked at Pax River as a custodian for many years from which she retired. She made the best potato salad and homemade rolls and prepared meals on Sundays for her family and whoever stopped by.
She had unconditional love for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They bestowed the love back to her. During her illness, the children took turns caring for her. Especially, Hope and sister, Delores spent countless hours to make sure all her needs were met.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Desi, Sr., Frederick, Tyrone, Ivan, Seth, Fern, Faith and Hope; sisters, Marie Gross, Gertrude Johnson, and Delores Torney; sisters-in-law, Genevieve Brown, Mary (Anna) Powell, Alice Sutton, and Sheila Weems; brothers-in-law, Milton Brown, Daniel Butler, Sr. Edward Powell, and Gordon Torney; daughters-in-law, Gail, Jane and Mary; sons-in-law, John Bush and Frederick Jefferson, Sr.; 33 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, two godchildren, Vaughn Lawson and Terrance Waul, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and her best friend Rosalee Washington.
