Obituary for Ethelene Louise Dorsey

Ethelene Louise Johnson Dorsey, known to family and friends as Shortie was born in Calvert County on January 16, 1945 to Carrie V. Johnson Taylor and the late James S. Dorsey. After an extended period of illness and hospitalization, she departed this life peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 2008, at Prince Georges Hospital Center.Ethelene received her education in the Calvert County Public School system and was a 1963 graduate of W.S. Brooks High School in Prince Frederick, Maryland. Upon graduation, she moved to Washington, D.C. She later moved to Capital Heights, Maryland.As a young child she attended and accepted Christ at Wards United Methodist Church and later served as a member of Immanuels Temple. In Ethelene later years as a Christian, she attended Church of God at Calvert County.She was united in marriage to the late Edward Dorsey.Ethelene was a kind, generous person and was always helping others and loved to make friends. She had a great love for her family. She enjoyed decorating, listening to gospel music, visiting senior citizens, cooking, traveling and fine food. Ethelene was multi-talented. During her career, she was an administrative assistant in the retail industry for over forty years. Ethelene was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Dorsey; father, James S. Dorsey; step-father, James Taylor; and brother, James Dorsey, Jr., her special uncles, James and Walter Johnson and James S. Hawkins. She leaves to mourn her loss, her mother, Carrie Taylor; two sisters, Delores Reynolds (Levi), and Cathy McKnight; two brothers, Frank (Beatrice) and Sterling Taylor.; seven nieces, Angela, Renee, April, Kimberly, Nekole, Jathia and Keisha.; two nephews, Sheldon (Angel) and Devon. One great-nephew Maxwell James Taylor; four aunts, Elizabeth Hawkins, Catherine Johnson, Mary Evans and Virginia Brashears; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends; and her very special cousin Peggy Hawkins.
