Edward Smith Jr., known to his family and friends as Billy, was born on September 15, 1944 in Calvert County, Maryland. He departed this life on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore Maryland at 3:25 pm. He was the son of the late Edward (Boise) and Genevieve Smith.
He was a baptized member of Calvary United Church. He received his education from the Calvert and Anne Arundel County School system (Lothian, Mt. Harmony and Bates) schools. He was self-employed at Red Rock Construction Company and he also worked at JW
Masonry Company, Hawkins Construction Company, and Eugene Construction Company.
Billy was a Mason member of the Victoria Lodge #71 PH FAM, a diehard Washington Redskins, and Baltimore Orioles fan. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing
hard ball, frying fish, eating beans, playing pool, racing cars, playing cards, cooking Sunday dinner, and spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Dorothy Woodland and Christine Smith; maternal grandparents Isaac and Viola Hawkins; paternal grandparents Zed and Mamie Smith; brothers in-law Walter Fields and James Black; and sister in-law Martha Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memory sons Wayne (Jackie), Troy and Stephen Smith; brothers Joseph, Chester (Christine), Louis (Brenda), and Spike (Stacey) Smith; sisters Bertha Fields, Gladys Black, Algea Gray, and Pauletta (Sam) Commodore, Diane Smith, Roberta Smith; six grandchildren Alanna, Bryan, Tenechia, Trochelle, Tasheda, and Troy Smith Jr.; one aunt
Audrey Freeman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special friends Evelyn Brooks, James (Rock) Smith, Ruby Wills, William Long, Eugene Ward, and Calvin Brooks
