Our beloved Edward Lee Brooks passed away in the early morning hours of March 11, 2017 in Prince Frederick, Maryland.
Edward Lee Brooks, lovingly known by his family and friends as BayBoy, was born in
Prince Frederick, to the late James Edward Brooks and Mary Bernice Freeland Brooks on
February 13, 1947. He attended Brooks High School where he graduated in the spring of
1965. Upon completion of high school, he moved to Stamford, Connecticut where he met and married Diane Spears in December of 1966. From this union came his only and beloved daughter Bernadette Bryant. Edward was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he proudly served this Country in the United States Army from 1965 to 1972; being honorably discharged
As a youngster, BayBoy enjoyed playing baseball and the bass drum. Although his brief military career left him with physical limitations, Bay Boy remained Full of Life! Those who encountered him would agree that he was a man with an infectious smile and a great love for family.
Edward is preceded in death by: his father, James Edward Brooks; mother, Mary Bernice Freeland Brooks; his brother, Sarge Brooks; sister-in-law, Sallie Mae Brooks, and his brothers-in-law, Robert Watkins, Kenneth Wills and Edward Keeler.
Edward is survived by his loving and devoted daughter Bernadette Bryant; siblings, Ruth Harrod (Thomas Harrod, spouse), Lillian Wills, Douglas Brooks (Sarah Brooks, spouse), Carrie (Lucy) Keeler, Agnes (Peggy) Watkins, and John (Ollie) Brooks; nieces and nephews, Althea (Towanda) Campbell, Sylvania Harrod, Sandra Harrod, Edward (Dorsey) Harrod, Russell Harrod, Bernice Harrod, Burdette Wills, Marshann Graham, Rena Wills, Gregory Wills, Keith Wills, Sean Wills, Robert Brooks, Abby Brooks, Corey Brooks, Sr., Douglas Brooks, Jr., Leslie Watkins-Cain, Abena Watkins, Adwoa (Chenille) Watkins-Beavers, Gene Brooks, Sean Brooks, Darnell Brooks, and Destiny Brooks; one uncle Alvin (Mudd) Freeland; one aunt, Ruth (Big Ruth) Reynolds; a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
