Dora Ann Hawkins (Tish), of Hyattsville, Maryland, departed this life on January 3, 2018.
Dora was born in Calvert County, Maryland on April16, 1966. She was the daughter of
Frederick Hawkins, Sr. and the late Betty Hawkins.
Dora worked for the Library of Congress for 34 years. She was a member of Evangel Cathedral Church and served as an Usher Leader and she was also the Head of the Greeters. Dora also served on the Usher Ministry for the sick and shut-in. Dora prepared all programs for the Usher Ministry.
Dora loved serving the Lord and always shared Cod's word with friends and family. On a quarterly basis, she gave out the "Daily Bread" books to others. Her hobbies included shopping, bowling and traveling. Dora loved helping others; you could always count on her being there for you. She had a heart of gold and always gave to others. Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday, and she loved cooking dinner with her dad.
Dora loved spending time with family, attending cookouts, birthday celebrations, graduations, and etc. Dora was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. She loved taking pictures and had a smile that would light up a room. Dora was also early to every event she attended, because timeliness was one of her pet peeves.
Dora was preceded in death by her mother, Belly Hawkins and grandparents, Norman and Arthelia Hurley.
Dora leaves to cherish her memory, her father, Frederick Hawkins, Sr.; one brother, Frederick Hawkins Jr. (Rick); goddaughter, NayKeshia; godsons, Ny'Shawn and Na'Mir; fiancé, Gary Pratt; aunts, Alice Hurley, Gloria Hawkins (Phillip), Margaret Landers, Elizabeth Jackson (John), Linda Freeland, Norma Jean Hurley, Millicent Franklin, Annabelle Curtis, Charlene Claggett (Louis), and Rose Holland; great-aunt, Dorothy Holland; uncles, Roland Hawkins, George Hawkins (Bertina), James Holland (Cotora), Larry Harrod, Kenneth Hurley (Janice), Glenwood Hurley (Eunice), and John Henry Taylor; great uncle, Lemuel Harrod; grandmother, Bertha Holland, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
