Obituary for DELVIN BROOKS
Delvin Brooks, 52, of Waldorf, MD after a brief illness passed away on September 10, 2011 at Southern Maryland Hospital, Clinton, MD. Delvin Connell Brooks was born on October 6, 1958 in Calvert County, Maryland. His final moments were filled with love, as he was guided through to his next life, by his loving wife, Illinois; his brother, Paul; his brother’s wife, Brenda; and his sister-in-law, Merilyn. As a young boy, “Boo Boo” was athletic and loved to play sports, especially baseball and basketball. His brother Paul remembered him as being an excellent third baseman. One of his favorite early memories was of bouncing his basketball along Sollers Wharf Road in front of his grandmother’s house. Delvin received his education in the public schools in Calvert County, and later, in Yorktown, Pennsylvania, where he mastered the art of cement finishing. He helped to build the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, and always took pride in building places where people could live and work. Delvin loved spending time with his wife, brother, grandkids, friends, and with his furry son, “Buddy”. He maintained lifelong friendships and was loved my many, many people. As one of his closest friends said in response to his passing, “They don’t make them like him anymore.” Delvin took great pride in his appearance, and was always sharply dressed. He loved to laugh and have fun, and had a youthful spirit always. Delvin will live on through the cherished memories of his wife, Illinois; his children, Ronald (Adrienne) and Ebony; his grandchildren, Kevonya, Ronald, Jaylen, and Xavier; his mother, Shirley Sorrell of NY; siblings, Paul Sorrell (wife Brenda) of MD, Cynthia Brooks of PA, and Joanne Sorrell of NY; sisters-in-law, Merilyn Watts and Gloria Jett; brother-in-law, Raymond Watts; aunts and Uncles, Lillian Dawkins, Barbara Sorell, Arthur Sorrell, Jr., and Frank Sorrell; four nieces; two nephews; two special friends, Burnis “Killer” and Tim; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends, and neighbors. His beloved grandparents, Hannah and Arthur Sorrell preceded him in death.
