Obituary for DELONTAY TAYLOR PARRAN
Delontay Taylor Parran (Tay) entered our lives as the second son born to Delores Inez and William David Parran on Sunday, September 2, 1990 in Clinton, MD. Peacefully he lived and peacefully he left on Saturday, December 31, 2016 in Ocean City, MD.
Tay was a devoted member of Calvary United Church where he sang on the Young Adult Choir, directed the Youth Choir, sang on the Brethren Choir, volunteered on Safe Nights, often led Youth Devotion, and did just about anything he was asked to do at/for the Church.
He graduated from the Calvert County Public School System in 2008 and continued his education at the College of Southern Maryland; receiving several certificates in the field of his passion - Child Care Development. As such, he worked at various Child Care Centers in Calvert County. His passion and concern for the well being of children was not limited to the place of his full time employment. Tay also coached basketball for 9 years through the Calvert County Parks & Recreation Association.
Grandma Ida's homemade chicken soup was one of his favorites and going to Grandma Marie's on Thanksgiving and Christmas for breakfast complete with her delicious pancakes was a delight. Looking forward to his holiday visits, he would talk about them at least a week before the day came. Tay enjoyed spending time with family; especially his cousins. When it came to traveling, it wouldn't take him long to pack a bag and be ready to go. His favorite color was red and one of his favorite songs was, "Treat Her Like a Lady." It was difficult to determine who was the older between him and his brother as Delontay could frequently be found telling David what to do. When Tay felt troubled, he would long for his Pop Pop.
Delontay's life will live on in the hearts of his parents, William David and Delores Inez; grandparents Oscar and Ida Gray, and Marie Parran; brother William David, II; very special niece Aliaya who was like his daughter; 15 uncles - George (Velma), Oscar, William, Paul, Gerald, Forrest (Deneen), Sherman (Sheila), Rodney (Shari) - also his godparents, Willis, Darcy, James, Jerry, Quenton, Matthew, and Prentice; 5 aunts Paulette, Ida (Ronald), Clarice, Vandora, and Dolores; Wanda Gray-Powell (cousin who played aunt role); an army of close first cousins; god brothers - Kyle McKnett and Troy Gray; god sisters - Ashley and Timia Gray; goddaughter Alycia; devoted friends - Lonnie, Jae, Brian, Larenz, Nathera, and Lakeysha; a young lady who he treated as a stepdaughter Keelie; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Those who greeted him on the other side included his grandfather John Parran, aunt Dorinda Parran, and uncle Anthony Gray.
