Obituary for DANIEL TYNES HURLEY
Daniel Tynes Hurley was born on April 23, 1936 to the late Tynes Samuel Hurley and Pauline Brown Hurley in Calvert County. Maryland. He departed his natural life and entered into his eternal lite on Monday, June 11, 2018.
Daniel was the first born of eleven siblings. He received his primary education in the Calvert County public school system. On November 4, 1962 Daniel married Stella Louise Tyler. He was the proud father of seven children and loved all of them dearly.
Daniel was a hard worker all of his life. He was employed in farming and construction. He was instrumental in farming several tobacco fields in Calvert County, Maryland. He worked for the Perini Corporation building the metro subways. He worked for Morgan E. Russell Corporation as a laborer.
He took pleasure in gardening and took pride in his work, having one of most bountiful gardens when he resided on Claggett Road in Sunderland, Maryland. Daniel loved to dress up in his suits with a wide brim hat and fine cologne. When he walked in a room or stepped out of his vehicle you knew Daniel was in your presence. His laughter lit up the atmosphere and he will always be remembered as wanting everyone around him to be happy. He loved to walk the boardwalk in his suits and became the unofficial "Mayor of Chesapeake/North Beach."
Some of his favorite sayings are: "I’m just keeping it real." "Keep it short and sweet." "Let the past be the past." "life is too short." His favorite gospel hymn played by his mother was, "One day at a time sweet Jesus.'' Some of his favorite pastimes were listening to music (oldies but goodies), and watching old television series with his wife, Stella. Some programs he liked were Gun Smoke, Bonanza, Cadillac Records, and Sanford & Son.
Daniel was baptized at Bethel Way of the Cross Church of Christ in the name of Jesus Christ. Prior to his transition from his natural life to his eternal life. he called on the name of Jesus. He acknowledged and praised God for saving him. He could be heard yelling the name of Jesus. He said, ''l have been talking to the Lord. I talk to Him every day."
Daniel leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved wife, Stella Louise Hurley; three sons and five daughters, Nathaniel Hurley (Barbara), Elvis Hurley (Sherri-deceased), Timothy Hurley (deceased), Gussie Griffin (Douglas-deceased), Debbie Brooks (Jerome), Vanessa Smith, Naomi Stratton (William) and Denikka Brown; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; three great, great grandchildren; two step daughters, Darlene Wills and Joyce Ann Wills; two brothers, Estep Hurley (Hattie Mae-deceased), Andrew Hurley (deceased); eight sisters, Gussie Jennings (Robert-deceased), Corina Green (Jesse-deceased), Catherine Freeman (Millard), Marthalene Hurley Tatum (deceased), Melvalee Boone (Thomas), Pauline Hancock (Walter), Delphine Sollers and Wilhemina Hawkins; three sisters-in- law, Gloria Jones, Olivia Jones, and Cora Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
