Obituary for Craig O. Freeland, Sr.

Craig Osman Freeland Sr. was born on March 4, 1964 to Milbon Freeland and the late Mary Ann Freeland. He took the journey home to be with the Lord in the early hours of Friday, April 18, 2008 at Doctors Community Hospital in Lanham, MD.

On December 31, 1996, he was joined in holy matrimony to Cozette R. Miles. They were blessed with one child from this union. As a child Craig attended Calvert County Public Schools and worshiping at Mount Olive United Methodist Church but recently, he had been attending services at Greater Mt. Zion Church.

After graduating in 1982, he began working as a mail sorter at Direct Mail in Calvert County. Craig continued working in the mailing business for 20 years. Within that time he learned to operate various mailing machines, and soon after becoming a machine operator/supervisor. He then trained others to use the various mailing machines. In 2002, he sought a change, and embarked on a career in physical security as a GSA certified contract security officer. From the start, Craig received many compliments on his professionalism and attention to detail while maintaining a pleasant manner.

Craig, also known as Brother Man, loved visiting and spending time with his family members and friends. He also enjoyed going fishing, crabbing, cooking out, dancing and music of all kinds, especially gospel. Craig considered himself to be a chef and loved whipping up meals for his family. During the holidays his 7-Up cakes were always in demand. At home he was affectionately referred to as Mr. Belvedere for his tidiness. Just as pleasant in his home life he was the friendly neighbor always willing to lend a hand. In being a people person, Craig made many friends throughout his life with whom he kept in contact. He was well known for his dancing, style and his laugh. He will truly be missed by many.
