Obituary for CONSTANCE LUCILLE JOHNSON
Constance was born on March 12, 1936 to the late Samuel and Bertina Weems in Calvert County, Maryland. She received her angel wings on the morning of Wednesday, January 15, 2020.
She was known and affectionately called by various names including Mom, Gramma, Grandma Connie, Grandmoma, Connie, Ms. Constance and Ms. Johnson.
She received her education in the Calvert County Public School System.
Constance was a woman of peace, love and happiness. She was always loving, caring, and very compassionate. If you were in her presence, she always wanted a hug and kiss. You could also always appreciate her honesty, as she often spoke her mind when necessary.
Constance honored her wedding vows and stood by them “in sickness and in health''. This union Filled the home with much love and understanding as they raised five children that grew to become fine imitators of' this great woman.
Constance was an excellent seamstress, making all of her clothes, as well as her granddaughters homecoming and prom dresses. She also had a knack for being very crafty, often making various gifts for family and friends.
Constance absolutely loved flowers, plants, and just enjoying the outside. Her joy of baking often filled her home with the sweet aromas of gingerbread, peanut butter cookies, raisin dumplings and rice pudding. These were her known specialties that she always made, upon request, to share with others.
Constance was very passionate about regularly visiting the sick and shut-ins. She also could have been called an Uber driver of her time, as she often offered transportation to those in need. Her legacy of spending time with others and always lending a helping hand will live on through her two sons, Terry and Vincent.
Constance loved the Lord and regularly supported her church. She was a member of various organizations including the United Methodist Women, Commission on Mission, Prayer Warriors, Soup Kitchen, and Adopted Grandparent Club. She also sang with the Intermediate Choir, which soon became the Inter-Senior Choir and also danced with the Senior Dance Ministry.
Constance leaves to cherish her memories, devoted children: Paulette (Sidney), Terry (Trudy), Vincent (Faye), and Winfred (Dimitra); beloved grandchildren: Tara, Bryant (Coretta), Paulita, Shawan (Don), Travin TJ'', Sheila (Bobby), Patrice, Troy, Eric, Breanna, Bryant, and Bryson; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her caring siblings: Mary Helen (John), Alverta, Samuel, Elsie, Stewart (Doris Ann) Celeste, and Charles, sister in-law JoAnn Benson-Weems; three special cousins: Gertrnde Willett, Edith Taylor, and Kenneth (Kale) Gross, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She has now gone to join her loved ones that preceded her in death, her loving husband Vincent, son Steven, brother Eugene, mother and father, Bertina and Samuel, and sister in-law Mary Ellen.
You will be truly missed. Absent from this earth, but not from our hearts. We love you!
