Obituary for CLINTON DARNELL RICE
Clinton Darnell Rice, affectionately known as "Buddy" was born June 15, 1960 in Prince Frederick, Maryland. He was the youngest child of the late John Joseph and Myrtle Louise Rice. On September 13, 2015, Buddy transitioned peacefully from this life to eternal rest and peace with The Lord.

Buddy was a graduate in the class of 1979 from Calvert Senior High School in Prince Frederick, Maryland. During his high school years he was active in sports such as football and track and field, thus, earning a scholarship to Salisbury State University. Following graduation he began a successful career with Telligent Masonry, spanning over30 years, until his health declined.

In 1986, Buddy was joined in holy matrimony to Laura Ann Evans (deceased). To this union they were blessed with a son, Gerald "Chief" and a daughter, Katreise. Residing in District Heights, Maryland, they shared the joys of marriage for 18 years.

Buddy was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ during his early childhood and received the gift of the Holy Ghost. A faithful member of Apostolic Faith Church of Jesus Christ the Lord, Inc., he sang with the Harmonizing Five, the AFC Voices of Praise, and started playing the bass guitar. Buddy was blessed with an amazing singing voice - a gift he used regularly to praise The Lord at his home church, as well as many other places he visited over the years, performing songs of praise to glorify God.

Buddy was gifted with such a loving spirit of meekness and kindheartedness. The abundance of generosity poured out from his heart was unconditional and everyone loved him. Throughout his life he was always gentle, never displayed hostility or anger, or made enemies. During his illness he rarely complained, and if you asked him - his reply was “I’m blessed".

From his early childhood, Buddy had an infectious laugh ... one that would spark laughs and smiles from whoever was in his presence. He loved spending time with family, especially Sunday dinners after church. Inspired by his mother and sisters' cooking, Buddy developed a love for baking cakes - BIG cakes! On many occasions he made cakes for friends and for each family member’s birthday. Although passionate of his favorite NFL team, the Steelers, Buddy also loved his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and truly enjoyed the sport of drag racing, occasionally traveling to various states to see live races.

Buddy leaves a legacy of fond memories cherished by his son, Gerald "Chief” Jackson; daughter, Katreise Rice; grandchildren, NaQuan, Rashad, Xavion, Kamauri, and Taylor, sisters, Della Wallace, Yvette(John) Somerville, and Sharon Inghram; like-a-sister, Dona Rice; one brother, Wayne Rice, like-a-brother, Rodney Rice and Michael Jones; mother-n-law, Percy Artis; sisters-in-law, Maryann, Diane, Barbara, Lisa, Marilyn; brothers-in-law, Joseph, James, Donnie; and an abundance of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Laura; parents, John and Myrtle Rice; sisters Marylou, Jerolene, and Neicy; father-in-law, Jonah Artis, Jr.; nephews, Page, Travis and Billy; brothers-in-law, Robert Wallace and Kevin lnghram.
