Obituary for CHARLENE DORETHA DAVIS

Charlene Doretha Davis, 56, was born on July 4, 1958, to the late Hazel Mullen and Raymond Davis. She unexpectedly and peacefully departed this life on Friday, January 30, 2015 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring. MD.

Charlene was reared in Washington, DC and Forestville, MD. She attended Van Ness Elementary and Randall Junior High Schools and on June 7, 1977, graduated from MM Washington High School, all in Washington, DC.

Upon graduation, Charlene, briefly worked for the Headquarters Marine Corps in Arlington, VA. Afterwards, she began her lengthy career with the US Agency for International Development (USAID), holding various positions from Clerk Typist/Secretary to Budget and Program Analyst. Charlene enjoyed her work, was known as a friend to many and made it a point to help anyone in need. She would always find a way to solve a problem; and often times “she did it her way.”

Charlene was a loving, compassionate person who relished spending quality time with family and friends. Known to always have a smile on her face, a smile that could light up a room….a smile that is gone too soon.

Also known as “Char” and “Smiley,” Charlene loved to cook, entertain, listen to all types of music, dance, and as a lover of crabs, she liked to dine at fine restaurants. In her early twenties, she was a Windy Ward model and also modeled for other non-commercial modeling establishments.

Charlene was preceded in death by her mother, Hazel Mullen, and father, Raymond Davis. She leaves to cherish fond memories her beloved brother, Carroll (Sonny Boy) Mullen (Janice), Las Vegas, NV; nieces, Ciarra Davis (Robert), Las Vegas, NV; Carole Sheldon (Steven), No. Charleston, SC; and Crystal Mullen, Las Vegas, NV; aunts, Ellen Wills (Isaac), Sadie Spriggs, and Myrtle Freeland; uncle, Stanley Freeland; god-children, Serena Harris, and Irin Wills-Allen; special cousins, Michael , Joyce, and Renee Spriggs, and other relatives and friends . She will be greatly missed by all.
