Obituary for CARMON MELVONDEZ GRAY
Carmon Melvondez Gray was born February 12, 1968 to Thomas & Marietta (Jones) Gray.
Carmon was educated in the Calvert County Public Schools. He graduated from Northern High School in 1986. He went on to pursue his education in the Information Technology field.
He began his FBI career on March 29, 1987, which he worked 33 years. He held several positions ending with the title of Office Services Supervisor. He made many friends over the years during his career. From what we hear, there were many good times whether on bureau time or outside of work. He was the jokester among them and a brother, it seems, to his FBI family.
He had this crazy after retirement plan: He would say, “When I retire, I’m going to work for HOME DEPOT.” When you ask, “Why? or say “Really”, he would respond, “I always wanted to work there.”
When Carmon lived in DC, he would host card parties for his close family & friends and then would go directly to work from there. He would be losing big time and never said a word or got mad. But when the pot got big, he would get all his money back plus theirs. Then he would say, “I told you to watch me.” He and the boys made a pack to have a fella’s weekend to Atlantic City several times a year, later to be joined by his uncles. They would also take a yearly trip to Florida.
Carmon was an avid sports player. He played Little League Baseball. As an adult he joined many cousins and uncles on the Owings Eagles baseball team, where he played the position of pitcher. He played basketball in high school. He developed the love of bowling. He joined several leagues with his uncles (Jimmy & Lloyd) and cousins (Shelvy, Matthew & Cleon). He could tell you anything about NASCAR. He would shift his Honda Prelude as if he was on the track.
He had a strong love for his 4 fur babies: Snowball, Onyx and Sai (all Pomeranians), also Chi-Chi was his first dog, a chihuahua.
He leaves to mourn: his parents; sister: Ophelia Gray; nephew: TaVon Reynolds; niece in-law: Kendra Simmons; uncles: Ronald & Kevin Jones, Lloyd (Florence) & Jimmy (Deborah) Gray; aunts: Karen & Brenda Jones, Alberta Jones and Thelma (Howard) Long; great-uncles: Donald Franklin & Robert Watts; Dog: Sai.
Also leaves a host of cousins and friends. Special mention to the squad: Charles Gray, Quintin Smith (QJ), Jr., Decarlos Smith, Christopher Smith, Matthew Jones, Kirk Cook, Delwin Clark, Brian Gray, Tony Smith, and Cleon Jones, Sr.
