Obituary for BRAD "BATMAN" JOHNSON
Brad Gregory Johnson, born April 22, 1951 in Prince Frederick, MD to the late Ellsworth Johnson and Ann Janey, peacefully transitioned from this life to be with his Heavenly Father, July 28, 2018 at the Restore Health Rehabilitation Center in White Plains, MD. Ann married James (Wilbur) Dent and he raised Brad and Larry, and from this union were born Valerie, Timmy, Lynn, and Sandy. Brad's early education was obtained in the Calvert County public schools. During his junior high school years he attended Spingarn High School and resided with his maternal grandmother, Ethel Thomas in Washington, D.C. Being no stranger to work, Brad worked under the supervision of his uncle Vernon Janey, Jr., with Ventura Construction. His employment history also includes MTI Construction, Frank Parsons Co., and Wal mart. Brad met and married Linda Morsell and from this union, Larry and Latonya were born. December 3, 2016, Brad was married to his sweetheart, Deborah Hutchins; and added to his family circle, step-sons; Bernard A Young (deceased), and Brandon Young (Tracey). Brad loved to bowl, play horseshoes, shooting pool, and play cards. He enjoyed grilling and making baked beans. He loved his family and Brad especially loved his grandchildren. Everyone that knew Brad know that he was also known as "Batman" He really had a great sense of humor. Brad was a di ehard Washington Redskin fan. He delighted in taking his Mom for a ride in the evening to get her cup of cappuccino. One of his proudest moments is when he received his high school diploma at age 64 after attending Calvert County Adult Education Classes, on April 20, 2016. Brad was baptized Feb. 1, 2015 at Kendall Baptist Church, Temples Hills, MD . He completed his new members class and became a member of Kendall Baptist Church December 29, 2015. Brad faithfully attended the Brotherhood (Men's Ministry) every fourth Saturday without fail - the cooks always had to have plenty of grits for him. New Creation Bible Church (NCBC) is a church plant, Kendall Baptist Church (KBC) is the send Church. Brad was one of the official members of the launch team. Brad officially transferred his membership to New Creation Bible June 7, 2015. Brad faithfully attended the Friday Night Bible Study and Sunday Worship Service at the Holiday Inn Express - Prince Frederick. Brad served as a greeter until his health no longer allow him to do so - he always greeted you with that warm smile. Brad was a trend setter - When he married his beautiful wife Deborah, he became the first member of New Creation Bible Church to get married. Now, he's the first member of NCBC to go be with the Lord. He leaves to cherish fond memories, his wife, Deborah Johnson; mother, Ann Dent; step-father James (Wilbur) Dent; daughter, Latonya Johnson; son, Larry Johnson; grandchildren, LunDyn Johnson, and Kelvin Brown, Jr.; sisters: Valerie, Lynn and Sandy; brothers: Timmy, and Steve; mother-in-law, Frances Hutchins; brothers-in-laws, John (Ruth), Phillip, Terry (Ann); sistersin- law, Anna, Bridget, Francine (Ronnie, Sr.), Pamela (Tim); uncle, Townsend Janey (Buelah); aunt, Martha Janey; and aunt, Gloria Janey; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and his two best friends, Alberta Lee Mackall and Earl Johnson. Preceding Brad in death: Vernon Janey (Bobby); uncle, Joey Thomas; aunt, Roberta Janey; and uncle, John Janey.
