Obituary for BERTHA F. HOLLAND
Bertha Florence Holland was born November 17, 1924 in Prince Frederick, md to the late Lemuel and Edith Harrod and was married to the late James Owen Holland.
Bertha was educated in the Calvert county public school system.
Bertha worked at several local restaurants for a number of years before becoming a homemaker. She enjoyed farming, cooking, gardening and hosting family functions. Bertha was a member at St. Edmonds United Methodists Church, she enjoyed the choir and clapped along as they sang.
She is survived by: her children, Margaret (Louise) Landers, Alice Hurley, Larry Harrod, Charlene Claggett (Louis), Rose Holland, James Holland (Catora); step-children, Bertina Mackall, Virginia Thomas, Leroy Holland (Marthalene); one daughter-in-law, Glenda Wallace and a one son-in-law, Frederick Hawkins.
She was preceded in death by: her children, Betty Ann Hawkins, William Wallace and Donna Harrod; stepchildren, Madeline, Gladys, Marie, Elizabeth, Stanley, Oscar, and Oliver.
She is survived by her best friend and sister, Dorothy Holland and brother, Lemuel Harrod. Her siblings preceding her in death were Margaret And Blanche Harrod, Mattie Hurley, Ben and Owen Harrod.
She is also survived by 19 Grandchildren, 2 preceding her in death, 25 Great Grand Children, 2 preceding her in death and 13 great great grandchildren. Bertha will be forever cherished by her children, grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
