Obituary for BEATRICE MAE SEWELL
Quietly and peacefully, our Heavenly Father called our beloved sister, aunt and friend Beatrice Mae Sewell to her eternal rest on Friday, December 30, 2016.
Beatrice Mae Sewell was born on August 24, 1953 to the late Ola Mae & Allen Gorman. She was educated in the Calvert County public school system. Beatrice came to know the Lord many years ago by placing her trust in His written word that said, "If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." This she did, looking forward to a heavenly home, not made by man's hands. She was baptized in Jesus' name at Bethel Way of The Cross. Due to illness, she was unable to attend as she liked. However, she stayed in touch with her sisters in Christ and when opportunities would allow, she attended services.
Beatrice was united in holy matrimony to the late Langston "Bunny" Sewell on August 27, 1973. She became a widower on September 16, 2004. There were no children from this union. But she had many godchildren, nieces and nephews she adored.
Bea, as she was fondly known by many, was a hard worker. Beatrice worked various jobs during her years of employment, mostly as a cashier. She worked at the Pizza Oven at Rt. 2 & 4 for approximately five years. From there, she moved on to work at 7- Eleven in the Dunkirk area and on Route 260. She continued her employment with the Gott Company/Fast Stop in Chesapeake Beach, MD from 1992-2007. Bea's final place of employment was at the Wal-Mart in Dunkirk. She worked there until July 2015. Here she enjoyed being one of the fastest, friendliest and hardest working cashier. Many people who came to Wal-Mart made a special effort to seek her out, wanting to be waited on only by her. She was always smiling and kept up a steady conversation as she speedily moved her customers through the line. Due to illness, she was forced to retire per her doctor's orders. She was loved by many Wal-Mart customers and co-workers.
Beatrice went to live with her sister and family in Prince Frederick in July 2016. There she was able to reconnect with her niece and nephews and their children. Bea enjoyed spending time with them, often laughing, joking and just being silly with one another. Bea loved the Lord and spent time reading and studying her Bible and several biblical reference books. Bea also loved doing word searches, listening to her collection of gospel music and crocheting afghans for friends. When she was not attending doctor’s appointments, Bea often spent time with her many friends and family members at Senior Pines because of her two favorite cousins, Doreen Jones and Samuel Ford. They were always ready to assist her and lend a helping hand.
Bea leaves behind, for those who loved and cherished her, a legacy of love and friendship. Bea was preceded in death by one sister, Cleo Gregory. She leaves to mourn her passing, 2 sisters, Lucille Daniels of Vero Beach, FL and Alberta Contee of Prince Frederick, MD. One brother-in-law, James Contee, Sr. of Prince Frederick, MD. 8 nephews; James Contee, Jr. of Annapolis, MD, Dexter Contee of Anchorage, Alaska, Richard Contee of Prince Frederick, MD, Timothy (La'Coria) Contee of Prince Frederick, MD, James Hardrick of Vero Beach, FL, Kevin Daniels, Curtis Daniels, Gary Jackson, all of Tampa, FL; 2 nieces, Denise Contee of Prince Frederick, MD and Angel Beachan of Tampa, FL. She loving leaves to mourn her passing, her cousin, Rearcie Mercer and her aunt Estella Brantley, both of Swainsboro, GA. A special friend, Paul Gray of Prince Frederick, MD.
She will be greatly missed by her sisters, as well by a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other loved ones and friends. Bea, rest in peace, for God loves you best!
