On the afternoon of January 16, 2009, the angel of silence entered into the room at Calvert County Nursing Center, and call Mother Addie Mae Watts Weems home to her final resting place after a lengthy illness. Miss Addie as she was affectionately known was born on March 7, 1919 in Calvert County , Maryland. She was a domestic worker for over 40 years. She enjoyed preparing scrumptious meals, baking her famous lemon meringue pies and making her homemade sweet ice tea. She was a faithful member of St. Johns United Methodist Church before her illness. Mother Addie enjoyed being a servant of the Lord in many ministries such as the United Methodist Women Society, Communion Stewart, Commission on Worship, Commission on Evangelism, Testimony Class, Senior Choir, and Prayer Services. Most of all she enjoyed singing Gods praises and one of her favorite hymns was Jesus on the Main Line. While in the Nursing Center, she would burst out singing I Dont Believe Hes Brought Me This Far.
