Obituary for Ada King

Ada Gantt King, 92 of Lusby, MD, died Thursday, August 7, 2008 at the Calvert County Nursing Center.She was born Thursday, August 12, 1915 in Prince Frederick, Maryland to the late George King and the late Edith Gantt King. She walked from Sixes Road to Prince Frederick Shool daily to atend school.At an early age, Ada and her brother, Clarence played musical instruments and sang together. Ada always liked good food, sermons, singing and music. Before her failing health, she could found at Brooks United Methodist Church in the service of God.Ada moved to Baltimore for many years and was employed as a domestc helper. After a few years she was united in holy marriage to Howard Theodore King (her childhood sweetheart), nown to her as "Honey". She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.In 1960, she returned to Calvert County and reunited to Brooks UM Church. She helped rear many children. She adopted two girls.She was dedicated, faithful member of Brooks UM Church in attendance and worship. Because of health problems, she was admitted to the Calvert County Nursing Center in April 1994.Surviving are two adopted daughters, Sandra and Virginia King; five sisters-in-law, Rachael Smith, Mary Hawkins, Frances Hutchins, Florence Marshall, and Margaret Mason; two brothers-in-law, Robert and Norman King; other relatives and friends.
