Obituary for ANNA VIRGINIA GOUGH
Anna Virginia was born on June 18, 1926 in Prince Frederick, MD to the late Thurn and Moslena Thomas. Anna departed this earthly life on April 4, 2018. The third of eight children, Virginia, learned at an early age to cook and take care of her family and received her formal education in the Calvert County school system.
On July 2, 1950, Virginia married the love of her life, Albert Gough. Together, they raised two sons, Carl and Michael, in a God-fearing home with loving kindness, structure and order. Virginia, who believed that it indeed took a village to raise a child, later cared for Calvin and Preston Chase. She took great pride in raising the boys to always look out for one another. Virginia loved spending time with family.
Virginia enjoyed working as a housekeeper. for cleanliness was next to Godliness. For many years she worked for Betty Gross and JoAnn and Elton Kersey. At one point she was a housekeeper in New York. On Coster Road, she was well known for her homemade popsicles and affectionately dubbed the "Candy Lady".
Virginia truly loved the Lord and was not shy to testify of his goodness. At-an early age she attended St. John United Methodist Church in Lusby, MD. She later went on to become a member of St. Matthew's Free Gospel Church in Leonardtown, MD under the leadership of Pastor Randolph Strong. One of her favorite scripture was Psalms 121:1-2 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills. from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Thurn and Moslena; husband, Albert and siblings Dorothy, Pauline, Alice, Mary, Mildred, Howard and Oscar.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her sons Carl (Vera) and Michael (Clarice); Grandchildren: Carl, III "Billy", Clayton "Clay", Michaer Jr. (Keyia), Angela, Ashley (Durell), Sherwin, Derek and Jason. Great Grandchildren: DaQuan, Ashea, Alaysia, Arveonna, Eric, Shayla, Amaya and Aaliyah, Special Friends and Family: Ollie Joppy, Bishop Darnell and First Lady Margo Easton, Emily Gantt Marion Johnson, Frances Willett, Grailen Gantt and Barbara Jefferson and a host of nieces, nephews and loved ones.
