Obituary for AMOS CHARLES HURLEY, SR.

Amos was born on April 9, 1942 in P1ince Frederick, MD. He was the son of the late Maurice Jr., and Margaret Brooks. His biological father was the late Charles Hurley.

Amos quietly slipped away from his loving and devoted family to be with the Lord at his residence on February 19, 2015.

Amos attended public schools in Calvert County. At early age he attended Plum Point UMC in Prince Frederick, MD.

Amos was a devoted husband to Rosetta (Rose) Coates Hurley. They were united in holy matrimony on March 28, 1970. From that union they raised three dedicated children.

Amos tirelessly commuted for over 45 years within the Maryland, Virginia and District of Columbia area working for local unions as a Union Labor Foreman. He retired in 2004 after dedicating the last 25 years of service, to the John J. Kirlin, LLC on Major Construction Projects, i.e. The Pentagon, Washington Hospital Center, National Institute of Health, Bethesda Naval Research, The Washington Harbour Project, and The Catholic University Project Renovations to name a few.

After retiring, his favorite past-times were going to classic car shows, tractor pulls, manicuring his lawn, working with his son on concrete projects, and visiting with his retired buddies.

Amos had a Green 1970 SS Chevy Chevelle that he really cherished. He also loved his jelly beans, cookies, and ice cream that Amos Jr. made sure he was never without.

He was preceded in death by his siblings: Lois Ann Brooks, Kermit and Donald Hurley. Sister-in-Law Patricia Hurley and Brother-in-Law Alexander Holland.

Amos' memories will be cherished by his loving wife Rose of 44 years, who spoiled him rotten. His children Herlaine (David, Sr.), Amos Jr. aka Ting (Catherine) and Denita aka Lil Girl (Terril); eight brothers, Wilbur (Philis), Mansfield, Charles (Beverly), Ronald, Leland (Linda), Eugene Hurley, Maurice III (Carly) and Anthony Brooks; four sisters, Violet Brooks, Joyce Hurley, Darlene and Susie (Calvin) Holland; three sisters-in-law, Pamala Lockes (Carl), Catherine Douglas aka Tudy and Irene Hurley; five grandchildren, Daneka, David Jr., Brittney, Brianna and Darius; three Great-Grandchildren, Kyra, Kayla, and Kaiden ; two uncles, Norman and Calvin Hurley; two aunts, Volley and Lettie Brooks; a special cousin, Butch Jones. He will also be sorely missed by a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and neighbors.
