Obituary for ALVERTA A. WEEMS
On April 18, 2021 the heavens rejoiced as they greeted Alverta Weems into eternity with the Lord. Alverta Weems was born on January 5, 1934 in Lusby, Maryland to the late Samuel and Bertina Weems. She departed this life in the warm and loving home that she contributed to on April 18, 2021.
Alverta was educated in the public school system of Calvert County, MD, and in September of 1955, she moved to New York where she would spent nearly sixty three years as a caretaker and home maker. In October of 2018, she returned home to Maryland. Alverta was a faithful member of St. John's United Methodist Church and she faithfully supported the ministry even while in New York. She loved sewing, shopping with her daughters, and cross word puzzles.
Alverta was the mother of three daughters, Alzenia, Gloria and Laurie. Three grandsons Delshawn (Leah), Ouennel (Latrisha), and Trayon (special friend, Mykia). Five great grandchildren; Adrian, Jordan, Emersyn, Addison and Ouennel Jr. Her caring siblings Mary Helen, Samuel, Elsie, Stewart (Doris Ann), Celeste and Charles. Sister in law, Delegate JoAnn Benson Weems. Three God children, Thomas Washington, Kwesi Smith and Genine Wills Parker.
