Obituary for ALICE OPHELIA DAVIS
Alice Ophelia Davis was born on November 30, 1946 to the late Ida Elizabeth Morsell Wills and Syrelius Wills, Sr. She was the ninth of eleven siblings.

Alice was educated in the Calvert County Public Schools and graduated from W.S. Brooks High School. After high school, she attended Prince George’s Community College. Alice then became a dedicated Federal Government professional for 39 years. Her extensive career lead her to a variety of positions with several agencies with her longest and most fulfilling being at the Environmental Protection Agency. There she served as a Procurement Specialist until her retirement.

Alice was married to the late James Davis, Sr. and out of this union was born a daughter, Melissa Turner and a son, Alexis Davis.

At an early age, Alice attended Ward’s Memorial United Methodist Church where she participated in various Christmas, Easter and Children’s Day programs. In later years, she joined the Ward’s Angelic Choir. One of her favorite songs was “A Brand New Me.” Alice was also an active member of the Alfred E. Young Widows Board for 19 years.

Additionally, Alice enjoyed reading a variety of novels, playing computer games, and family gatherings. She also was known by family and friends for her wit and specialty dishes - deviled eggs and crab balls. Mostly, she enjoyed having long conversations and traveling with her siblings.

Alice could also be seen with her grandchildren at Vacation Bible School, Karate School or just around town.

Alice peacefully departed this life on Friday, June 3, 2016 with her family by her side at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, James Davis, Sr., her father Syrelius Wills, Sr.; mother, Ida E. Wills; brothers, Charles and Anthony; and two sisters, Myrna and Claudia.

Left to cherish Alice’s memories are her children Melissa (Renard) Turner of Capital Heights, MD and Alexis (Keasha) Davis of Edenton, NC.; two step-children she loved as her own, Charlene (Calvin) Keller of Clinton, MD and James (Yvonne) Davis, Jr. of Washington, DC.; five grandchildren, Brandon Davis, Ishia Davis, Renard Turner Jr., Roman Turner and Raven Turner; three sisters, Barbara Williams, Helen Wills, and Faye Hinton; three brothers, Syrelius Wills, Jr., Isaac Wills and Woodrow Wills; five sisters in-law, Mary Wills, Ellen Wills, Louise Spruill, Nancy Carter, and Jerri Davis; one brother in-law, Robert Davis; two special friends, Margie Weathers and Lynette Gallion; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Alice will be truly missed by family and friends.
