Obituary for ALBERTA JONES
Alberta Jones was born on February 9, 1939, to the late Arthur S. and Mary E. Jones. On October I, 2018, she peacefully departed this life at her home surrounded by family. Alberta was born in Owings, MD, and educated in Calvert County Public Schools. Later in life, Alberta received her High School Diploma from Stratford Career Institute.
Alberta was a very hard worker and took great pride in providing for her family. She has held several positions in employment. Many years ago, she worked for Victor Stanley, Inc., Dart Drug, Inc., Ogden Food, Inc, and Prince George's County Government where she retired in April 2004, after 23 years of service.
Alberta loved the Lord and loved to pray!!! She was quick to tell you that she prayed three (3) times a day, and if you dare to call her while she was praying, she would answer the phone and ask you "What do you want honey? I am saying my prayers". She also loved bible study. Many years ago, she was a member of Wards United Method Church and later became a member of the Agape Reigns Fellowship Church where she was a faithful member for over 20 years until her health declined. However, her declining health did not stop her from faithfully sending her tithes and offering.
Alberta loved to cook and bake cakes. She would bake a turkey at least 4-5 times a year; however, the grand finale was always on Thanksgiving Day. She loved hosting Thanksgiving dinner and entertaining family and friends. She loved everyone and thought everyone was beautiful. Even after losing most of her vision a few years ago, she would still tell you how pretty you looked. When she gave you a hug and if she felt a few extra pounds, she would also let you know that with a smile. However, nothing could ever compete with her relationship with the Lord. She loved the Lord and always talked about his goodness and mercy. She was a faithful servant. A loving and caring person.
She leaves to cherish her memories: son, Rex Jones (Carol) and daughter, Angela Parker; seven (7) sisters, Virginia Creek, Leila Jones, Lillie Jones, Gladys Coates, Evangeline Jones, Bertina Sharps and Mattie Jones; five (5) brothers, Arthur (Curley), Russell (Sally), Daniel (Elsie Mae), John, and Grafton Jones, Isaac Creek (Debbie); preceded in death; three (3) sisters; Catherine Jones, Leatha Mae Harrod, and Sadie Croom, and one (1) brother, Samuel Jones; grandchildren: Jeremy Jones (Tammy), Keona Llewellyn, Sarkis Jones (Rebecca), Trey Jones, Carlee Stebbing (Ryan), Christina Hickey (Chad), Branden Ohler, Marcus Holland and a host of other children who adopted her as their "Granny"; preceded in death grandson, Timothy Llewellyn;16 greatgrandchildren, a special devoted friend, Victoria Groves-Cardillo; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
