Obituary for ADRIENE M. BROOME

Adriene Marguerite Broome was born on September 9, 1957, in Prince Frederick, MD, to the late Alexander and Marguerite Broome. She was raised in Dowell, MD, and received her education in the Calvert County Public School System. To all that knew and loved her, she was affectionately called "Sissy."

Adriene had a fulfilling career; she worked at Direct Mail in Prince Frederick, MD as a Lithographer for over 30 years. She would soon return to her passion of cooking, just like her mother before her. She would stand alongside her mother and help prepare meals for family dinners, special occasions, or "just because" because they loved to cook. Momma could cook just about anything in the kitchen, just like her mother, except for her rolls, of course, as they were often imitated but never duplicated due to her not being able to pry the recipe from her. She had the opportunity to work in the Calvert County Public School System with her mom before her retirement. She also shared her love of food prep with multiple local establishments such as Boomerangs, Ruby Tuesday, and Steffan's and Cracker Barrel while she lived in Georgia.

She had a close relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. That foundation was laid at St. John United Methodist Church, where she attended as a child with her late parents. She could often be found reading her Bible or watching a Christian-based video on her computer.

Her family was so important to her. She enjoyed spending time with and could be found playing with her brother Keith and her cousins during her childhood. She was a tomboy, so she played kickball, football, and basketball just like the boys. Sissy enjoyed fishing, crabbing, and eating crabs, family gatherings during Thanksgiving and Christmas, and looked forward to displaying her cooking skills during the holidays. She enjoyed catching up on lost time with her out-of-state family from the New Jersey, and Massachusetts areas, the huge smile that radiated from her face whenever she was with them was one of a kind. She was a very proud mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister and friend.

Her faith in God was strong which allowed her to overcome a stroke in 2018. She unexpectedly departed this life on Saturday, October 16, 2021. She had recently returned home from Georgia and was so happy to be back in Calvert County. She had made friends at the Apartment complex at which she resided and could be found about the county enjoying time with and bonding with her new friends. She cherished her time with her brother and sister-in-law, her sons, grandchildren, and great-grandson. The struggle has ended, and she is now completely healed and at peace with her Heavenly Father.

Adriene "Sissy" Broome leaves to cherish her fond memory and legacy two children Bernarda (Kim) and Demond (Flordelyn) Henson; one brother, Keith Broome; five grandchildren, Victoria, Kimora, Jada, Amaya and, Demond Jr; one great-grandson, Carter Gerard; two nieces Lakeisha and Kymberly Broome; and a host of family and friends.
